Work readiness is a central goal of vocational education, referring to students’ ability to enter, adjust to, and perform effectively in the workplace. This study describes the level of work readiness among tourism vocational students at SMK Negeri 2 Bukittinggi, examined through five indicators: technical competence, soft skills, work attitude, self-confidence, and adaptability. Using a quantitative descriptive design, data were collected from 168 twelfth-grade students, selected through proportional random sampling from a population of 291 students across the Culinary, Fashion Design, Beauty and Cosmetology, and Hotel Management programs, using a validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaire. Descriptive statistical analysis shows that students’ overall work readiness falls into the very high category, with a mean score of 88.34%. Work attitude recorded the highest achievement (89.29%), while soft skills recorded the lowest (87.50%), although all indicators remained in the very high category. These findings indicate that tourism vocational students at SMK Negeri 2 Bukittinggi already possess adequate technical, interpersonal, attitudinal, and adaptive capacities to enter the workforce, although continued attention to soft-skills development is recommended given the service-oriented nature of the tourism industry.
