Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya manajemen tata ruang ruang baca dalam meningkatkan kenyamanan pengguna di perpustakaan perguruan tinggi. Ruang baca yang tertata dengan baik tidak hanya mendukung aktivitas belajar, tetapi juga memengaruhi tingkat kenyamanan dan intensitas pemanfaatan ruang oleh mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis manajemen tata ruang ruang baca di Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Tanjungpura dalam meningkatkan kenyamanan pengguna. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif. Subjek penelitian meliputi pengelola ruang baca dan mahasiswa sebagai pengguna. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, sedangkan analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan tata ruang telah mendukung kenyamanan pengguna, terutama dari aspek pencahayaan dan ventilasi, namun belum optimal akibat keterbatasan ruang, fasilitas yang belum memadai, serta penataan koleksi yang belum sistematis. Kondisi ini memengaruhi kenyamanan dan efektivitas penggunaan ruang baca. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa manajemen tata ruang perlu dikembangkan secara lebih terencana, sistematis, dan berorientasi pada kebutuhan pengguna guna meningkatkan kenyamanan dan kualitas layanan ruang baca.

This study is motivated by the importance of spatial layout management in improving user comfort in academic library reading rooms. A well-organized reading space not only supports learning activities but also influences user comfort and space utilization. This study aims to analyze the management of reading room layout in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Universitas Tanjungpura in enhancing user comfort. A qualitative approach with a descriptive design was employed. The research subjects included reading room staff and student users. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that layout management has supported user comfort, particularly in terms of lighting and ventilation, but remains suboptimal due to limited space, insufficient facilities, and unsystematic collection arrangement. These conditions affect user comfort and the effectiveness of space utilization. The study concludes that spatial layout management needs to be more structured, systematic, and user-oriented to improve comfort and service quality.
