Generative AI Policies

Jurnal Pendidikan Sosial Indonesia (JUPSI) recognizes that Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) may provide technical assistance during certain stages of the research process. However, the journal emphasizes that scientific ideas, interpretations, analyses, arguments, and conclusions must originate entirely from the authors.

Generative AI may be used only as a technical support tool and must never replace the intellectual, analytical, or scientific contributions of the authors.

Permitted Uses

Authors may use Generative AI solely for the following purposes:

  • Assisting with the transcription of interviews, focus group discussions, or other audio-based research data.
  • Supporting data organization, data cleaning, and formatting of research datasets.
  • Assisting in coding or categorizing qualitative research data under the direct supervision, verification, and interpretation of the researchers.
  • Assisting with statistical programming, analytical coding, or data visualization, provided that all outputs are carefully verified and interpreted by the authors.

Prohibited Uses

Generative AI must not be used to:

  • Generate, write, rewrite, paraphrase, edit, proofread, or translate any part of the manuscript.
  • Produce the title, abstract, introduction, literature review, methods, results, discussion, conclusion, or any other scholarly content.
  • Generate scientific ideas, hypotheses, arguments, interpretations, or conclusions without the authors' independent intellectual contribution.
  • Prepare literature reviews automatically without critical evaluation and synthesis by the authors.
  • Fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or modify research data or research findings.
  • Generate fictitious references, citations, tables, figures, images, graphs, or other research outputs.
  • Prepare peer-review reports or make editorial decisions.
  • Be credited or listed as an author or co-author of the manuscript.

Author Responsibility

Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, authenticity, scientific validity, ethical compliance, and overall integrity of their manuscripts. The use of Generative AI does not transfer any academic or ethical responsibility from the authors to the technology.

Failure to comply with this policy may result in editorial actions, including manuscript rejection, withdrawal, or retraction in accordance with the Publication Ethics of JUPSI.
